We’re thrilled to announce that IECF has received a gift of $7M from the trustees of the S.L. Gimbel Foundation. The gift will be added to the S.L. Gimbel Fund, which IECF has proudly stewarded since 2010.

The S. L. Gimbel Foundation honors the life of Susan Gimbel of Orange, California, and was established to advance the causes she was passionate about, including the arts, education, the environment, and human dignity issues. Her foundation supports nonprofits nationwide working in these areas, in addition to other charitable purposes. Susan was an ultra-marathon runner who loved the outdoors. Sadly, she passed away in 2006 after battling ovarian cancer.

This is the largest gift made by the S.L. Gimbel Fund to IECF, and it confirms our mutual commitment to bettering the lives of those we serve. “We are honored to be affiliated with the good work of the S.L. Gimbel Foundation,” said Michelle Decker, IECF CEO. “It’s our privilege to partner with the trustees as we help them carry out Susan’s legacy.”

Under IECF’s management, the S.L. Gimbel Foundation has granted $11M over the past year to a broad range of organizations.
